    Serrapeptase—also known as serratiopeptidase—is an enzyme belonging to the serine protease class.  As a protease, it breaks down proteins into smaller components called amino acids. Serrapeptase was originally discovered in the digestive tract of silkworms in the 1960s.  It is often called the “butterfly enzyme” because its strong fibrinolytic activity enabled the silkworm to dissolve its tough, fibrous cocoon when it was ready to emerge.  This same fibrinolytic activity was identified to support human inflammatory systems, and has been consumed by humans for decades.

    Imagine you scrape your knee – your blood immediately clots and your body makes a scaffolding out of fibrin (a thread-like protein) to hold the clot in place. This acts as a natural bandage as the body heals. Your body uses fibrin to repair internal injuries too.

    But your body also has to take down the fibrin scaffolding (a process called fibrinolysis). Your body naturally does this with an enzyme called plasmin, which breaks down the fibrin into parts the body can process.     Unlike other supplements, the weight (mg) of an enzyme supplement carries little significance. It is not the weight of the enzyme, but the potency (or activity) of the enzyme that matters. Frequently, there are internationally recognized tests such as those of the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) or the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).  In the case of serrapeptase, there is no one international standard for measurement.  Nevertheless, the units you may encounter on the market (SPU, IU, and SU) are used almost interchangeably.  This means you should be able to compare one product to the other regardless of their method of testing.

    I have been using this product for any years. Happy with it. Not happy that you have discontinued Clear Lungs from your products. I have also have been using that product for many years and when I asked you is there somewhere else I can get Clear Lungs I got no reply.

    I have been using proteolytic enzymes for acne scarring for quite some time and obviously I wouldn't continue to buy them if they weren't helpful. Recently I bought a large order of the Serra Rx to equal the number of Serracor-NK as I take. Each bottle of Serra Rx has 60 capsules and Serracor-NK has 150. I take one of each plus another product (3 total doses). Because I buy BiomedicLabs 'scar tissue' combination (Serra Rx plus Serracor-NK), the number of pills in each bottle is unequal and so I need to buy additional Serra Rx. I wish the pill counts were more equal--and that is my only complaint.

    WONDERFUL PRODUCT!!!

    I have used this before to control the extra build up of scar tissue after multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, I went for a long time of not taking it as I was devoting all my time as a caretaker for a dear family member that has since passed away. I started having problems with pain and constant cramps from the scar tissue buildup everywhere and then in a new location which was totally unexpected - in my lungs. My mother passed away 5 years ago today with pulmonary fibrosis! I do not wish to go through what my mother did from the build up of scar tissue in the lungs, i.e. "pulmonary fibrosis", so I started back taking this product religiously now. It's been about 2.5 weeks since I started taking it again and WOW!!! what a difference it has made in the way I feel.....no more pain at all!!! I believe truly that this is a "miracle" product! I will never stop taking it again regardless of my circumstances!!

    Great for internal scar tissue buildup

    Been using this as part of the Scar Tissue Bundle for 1 1/2 years now .
    Been working so great to clean up internal scar tissue from 6 surgeries due to a work accident. Working so well I was able to quit the back treatments I was getting because this was working better and faster.
    Will continue with these products.
