Serrapeptase—also known as serratiopeptidase—is an enzyme belonging to the serine protease class.  As a protease, it breaks down proteins into smaller components called amino acids. Serrapeptase was originally discovered in the digestive tract of silkworms in the 1960s.  It is often called the “butterfly enzyme” because its strong fibrinolytic activity enabled the silkworm to dissolve its tough, fibrous cocoon when it was ready to emerge.  This same fibrinolytic activity was identified to support human inflammatory systems, and has been consumed by humans for decades.

Why Take Fibrinolytic Enzymes?

Imagine you scrape your knee – your blood immediately clots and your body makes a scaffolding out of fibrin (a thread-like protein) to hold the clot in place. This acts as a natural bandage as the body heals. Your body uses fibrin to repair internal injuries too.

But your body also has to take down the fibrin scaffolding (a process called fibrinolysis). Your body naturally does this with an enzyme called plasmin, which breaks down the fibrin into parts the body can process. Healthy fibrinolysis is critical for managing pain, scarring and potential blood clots.

Unlike other supplements, the weight (mg) of an enzyme supplement carries little significance. It is not the weight of the enzyme, but the potency (or activity) of the enzyme that matters. Frequently, there are internationally recognized tests such as those of the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) or the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).  In the case of serrapeptase, there is no one international standard for measurement.  Nevertheless, the units you may encounter on the market (SPU, IU, and SU) are used almost interchangeably.  This means you should be able to compare one product to the other regardless of their method of testing.

I have skin fusions. This is the only thing that seems to be reversing it. I take 3 pills morning on an empty stomach and 3 pills before bed, also on an empty stomach. I'll taper down when it's all cleared up.

May Not Be For Everyone. You MUST Drink Lots of water!

Follow the directions before taking. I researched many valuable things so I had to get some for some of my family members. I got this for their allergy and respiratory issues. Unfortunately at the same time my husband was having a conversation with them about it and they were having constipation issues. My husband had also been experiencing these issues. I, however did see some good things as far as my knees hurting and some cyst issues going away. You must drink a lot of water or not take them. I can’t express this enough.

I don't know how, but this stuff works...

Purchased this product to rid myself of nasal congestion, and congestion in general. Found that after a few weeks of taking this product (3 pills a day between meals) that while sleeping, I was actually breathing through my nose rather than my 'mouth' during the night. Now, THAT is very uncommon for me. Another added plus factor, my heart rate average decreased during the night as well. Overall, I am less congested and am breathing better during the day and night. Am going to start to monitor my BP to see if it 'helps' lower that stat as well.
In the future, I'll either try upping the dosage to 4 pills a day or looking for higher dosage pills. This stuff works. And, I do not see any reason why the product will or would cause any 'side effects' with higher doses.
Reminder: follow instructions on the bottle. Give ample time before and/or after meals. This is potent stuff... which means,... It works!!!

Works well for gut health.

Does not help me with pain but helped with gut health and will cause gas. Overall not a bad product. Nothing to indicate it will help with any pain relief.

Tightens my muscles and makes my nose runny.

It works. I work 12+ hours a day, carrying heavy stuff and stressing a lot. I feel like my muscles are holding together and I am getting stronger. You may need to stretch a lot before a workout or work, though it'll help feel like you're getting stronger.

Take on a empty stomach

Must be taken on an empty stomach otherwise you will be sick. I mean with not food. I take at bedtime a few hours after dinner.

If you suffer from acid reflux it will upset your stomach. Does not ease pain at all.

Excellent serrapeptase supplement

Way, way back in the 90s, I purchased a competitive supplement (Wob***yme) to help my wife with fibroids. I also discovered that it worked for small tumors as well. Since then I’ve found that serrapeptase alone works just as well, if not better, in the right dose. This supplement was the absolute best I had found. I’ve since switched to the more potent version. The manufacturer got it so right. There”s no magnesium stearate AND it’s enteric coated. Why am I taking it now? Well...
I’ve been ignoring a small cyst on my right wrist for years. I also dealt with a fatty tumor on the right side of my head just behind my ear. I didn’t worry about either one because they weren’t painful or limiting my movement. Then I developed a mass/lump in my left groin behind the epididymis. THAT one, I couldn’t ignore. It started as a persistent ache. It was like when I was in my teens and my body had gotten all prepared to get some “action” that never happened except this felt like there was a ‘center’. Then it started to become like a sharp steady pain. So I investigated and that’s when I found the lump.
Fast forward to now... I started taking 4 - 6 caps of this supplement every night (empty stomach) about 6 weeks ago. Now, full disclosure, I started with a different supplement by a different manufacturer initially (about 3 weeks worth) but that one has magnesium stearate so I switched to this one. In the 9-10 weeks I’ve been taking this, the lump is down to about half of its initial size and the pain is down to only occasionally (as opposed to daily) and back to just a dull ache. I now take the “extra strength” which is 130,000 SPU per capsule and I take 4/night (520,000 SPU). I’m going to stay with this protocol until either the lump is gone or the pain is gone. BTW, the lumps on my wrist and head are almost completely gone.
I don’t do snap reviews for supplements because I have to give them time to work. This one WORKS!

Do you enjoy intense, violent, tear-inducing vomiting? Then this product is for you! I was shocked at how sick this made me. I've used a few other serrapeptase supplements in the past and that never happened to me before. But the first night after using this I had to get up multiple times to chunder so hard it was physically painful. While I would definitely give this product to my worst enemy, I would never again take it myself.

It works!

I was dealing with a painful trigger finger that was radiating pain in to my palm of my right hand. It was painful to hold on to my steering wheel. I went to You Tube to see what I could do to get rid of it. When the Motivationaldoc brought up Serrapeptase I though I would give it a try. I went to Amazon and ordered Serr-RX 80,000. After a week I went from taking one in the morning to two. It wasn't long before the pain was gone. My finger still catches time to time, but I do not need to use my other hand to straighten out the finger. I can pop it out. A lot of times you take a supplement and you wonder if it is working or if I am wasting my money. With Serra-Rx I know it works and that's what counts! There are a lot of other possible health benefits that Serrapeptase can give you. I'm going to keep on taking it.

Made me sick

After taking this a few days, one day I got nauseated and vomited after. Not associating the two, I took it again a couple days later. Again, threw up and was nauseous for hours. I don't have a 'weak' stomach at all and almost never throw up. I researched and can't find why it makes me feel like this, but looks like I'm not the only one. Be careful!

Very pleased!

Wow I bought it because it said it was good for scars. But I saw it also work for sinuses. I've only used it two days but my sinuses are unbelievably clear.
I have been using one of dr. Christopher's products it was okay not great. And then my doctor recommended coricidin. I have to take a lot of those during the day and they don't last through the night.
So far I'm really enjoying having clear sinuses.
If scars start to disappear that's even more of a plus.
I should check my blood pressure though. If it goes up through the roof I will rewrite. I sure hope not cuz that's just great.
